General Atomics AeroTec Systems unveiled the Do228 NXT demonstrator at its international debut during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, marking the aircraft’s first public appearance outside Germany following its maiden flight on 2 May 2026 and prior static display at ILA Berlin in June. The next-generation turboprop retains the Dornier 228’s STOL capabilities while integrating modern avionics, including the Universal EFI-890R glass cockpit, and is powered by two Honeywell TPE331-10 engines with 5-blade MTV-27 propellers delivering 776 SHP each. Designed for up to 19 passengers or over 2,000 kg of cargo, the NXT targets maritime patrol, border security, MedEvac, and humanitarian roles, with series production planned at five units annually and the first confirmed order secured by an NGO for delivery in early 2027.
