Vertical Aerospace Conducts First Public eVTOL Flights at Farnborough Airshow

Vertical Aerospace will execute the first public eVTOL demonstration flights at the Farnborough International Airshow from 20 to 24 July 2026, marking the debut of an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft flying publicly at this major event. The flights operate under an expanded UK Civil Aviation Authority Permit to Fly granted 10 July 2026, authorizing public demonstrations away from the Cotswold Airport Flight Test Centre. Vertical will fly its full-scale VA-1X prototype while displaying a full-scale commercial Valo model on the ground, signaling progress toward certification with Valo type approval now expected in 2029. This debut coincides with BETA Technologies’ CX300 performing at the same airshow, creating the first instance of two eVTOLs operating at a major international event on the same day.
