Three Chinese carriers—Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines—have committed to 95 Airbus jets at a list price of $17.8 billion, marking one of the largest recent Airbus wins in the region. Air China secured 15 A350-900 widebodies for delivery between 2030 and 2032, while Shenzhen Airlines and Hainan Airlines each ordered 40 A320neo narrowbodies, with Hainan’s deliveries starting in 2028. The deals, filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange on 17 July 2026, require shareholder and regulatory approval before becoming effective. Airbus is expected to grant substantial discounts given the order scale, a standard practice for large-volume transactions. The acquisitions aim to modernize fleets, expand capacity by up to 11.4%, and improve operational efficiency as China’s aviation market rebounds post-pandemic.
