Pakistan transfers 11 PIA properties worth Rs14.2bn to new private owners

The Pakistani government transferred 11 Pakistan International Airlines properties valued at Rs14.2 billion ($51 million) to the Arif Habib-led consortium on 15 July 2026, marking the first asset delivery under the PIACL privatization. The portfolio includes four domestic offices in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Islamabad, and Quetta, plus seven overseas assets in India, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, and the United States, excluding the Roosevelt Hotel which remains with PIA Holding Company. This transfer accompanies the 29 June 2026 divestment of 75% shares and management control, while the remaining 25% stake and Rs45 billion payment await completion by end-April 2026. New owners plan to establish Islamabad as their primary business center, leveraging assets worth Rs4 billion more than the initial Rs10 billion cash paid.
