Volotea opens Montpellier base and adds Málaga and Bari routes

Volotea inaugurated its operating base at Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport on 5 November and plans to add flights to Málaga and Bari in summer 2027. Both routes are scheduled twice weekly, with about 7,000 seats planned for each. The base will support an expanded Montpellier network: the airline expects to serve 14 destinations from the airport in 2027, offering around 420,000 seats, 22% more than in 2026.

Flights to Málaga are planned for Thursdays and Sundays, while the Bari service is scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays. Volotea’s Madrid and Tenerife South routes from Montpellier were due to begin on 6 and 8 November, respectively.

The opening extends the airline’s presence in Occitania, where it has operated since 2012. France is Volotea’s largest market, representing about 60% of its activity. The carrier operates at 26 French airports and, with Montpellier, has 12 bases in the country. It expected to offer nearly eight million seats in France in 2026.
