Michael Schwarz appointed head of Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport

Michael Schwarz, managing director of Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Airport, has been unanimously appointed managing director of Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport. The airport’s supervisory board and shareholders’ meeting selected him on 4 November, with his start expected in spring 2027. He will succeed Roland Hüser, who plans to leave at the turn of 2026/27 after more than 25 years in roles at the airport.

Schwarz, 59, is a qualified engineer with around 30 years of aviation-sector experience. He has led Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Airport since October 2018 and previously held senior positions at Fraport, Air Berlin and Riyadh Airports Company. He is also chairman of the ADV airport-operations committee and a member of the IDRF regional-airfields association.

Hüser’s departure prompted a recruitment process that drew interest from numerous qualified candidates. Paderborn/Lippstadt supervisory board chairman Christoph Rüther pointed to Schwarz’s experience in airport operations and strategic site development, as well as his work with business, political and research organisations. Schwarz’s move will also leave Braunschweig-Wolfsburg to arrange a succession. No precise start date or details of his plans for Paderborn/Lippstadt have been disclosed.
