Lufthansa has completed the 100th-anniversary livery on its Airbus A321neo Hamm (D-AIEM), adding the final two of 12 designs built around personal stories from employees and people associated with the airline. Arranged around an oversized crane emblem under the motto “Made by many. Remembered by all,” the motifs combine individual experiences with episodes from Lufthansa’s history. The aircraft is due to carry them around Europe until the end of 2028.
The latest additions recall a Frankfurt–Bogotá flight on 19 March 2020 that brought stranded travellers home during the pandemic, and an employee’s experience establishing Lufthansa sales offices in Dresden from June 1990 alongside German reunification in Berlin.
Employees submitted stories for the project. A jury shortlisted 20 proposals, with the final selection made by an employee vote. The designs also include historical material, among it a photograph of Lufthansa’s first two female pilots. QR codes beside the motifs provide access to further background information.
The anniversary scheme is set to cover six aircraft. Lufthansa’s first Airbus A350-1000 in the special livery is expected to join the fleet in November.
