Air Congo has received a second Boeing 787-9, adding capacity for its long-haul operation as it develops services to Europe. The seven-year-old aircraft, registered EI-MGL, was previously operated by MIAT Mongolian Airlines. It flew from Ulaanbaatar to Kinshasa on 28 October and is expected to serve routes including Brussels and Paris.
The aircraft’s arrival gives Air Congo another widebody for its European network. The reported route plans point to use on the carrier’s services to the two destinations, although no entry-into-service date has been confirmed.
EI-MGL is the second 787-9 to join the airline. Air Congo’s fleet expansion comes as it builds its long-haul operation, but details of the aircraft’s configuration and the capacity it will provide were not available. The aircraft’s identity and anticipated routes have been reported by aeroTELEGRAPH; an official confirmation from Air Congo was not located.
