WestJet will expand its winter 2026/27 network to Latin America and the Caribbean with up to 1,252 weekly flights across 88 nonstop routes from Canada. The programme lifts capacity by 12% year over year and adds new service from Calgary to Mérida and São Paulo, alongside extra frequencies on existing Mexico and Caribbean links.
The expansion covers destinations in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Brazil, with key Canadian gateways including Calgary, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Regina and Ottawa. Calgary–São Paulo will be the only direct service between Western Canada and South America, giving the carrier a notable long-haul leisure link for the winter season.
WestJet is pairing new routes with higher frequencies and larger aircraft as it targets winter sun demand. The schedule will include 50 sun destinations from 15 Canadian cities during the peak travel period, with access to more than 60 additional South American destinations through its LATAM partnership.
Regional growth is concentrated in western Canada. Saskatoon capacity is set to rise 77%, Edmonton 34%, Calgary 18%, Winnipeg 26% and Regina 64%. Winnipeg will gain service to Belize City and Punta Cana, while Regina will get its first nonstop flight to Los Cabos.
