Vueling will continue flying between Barcelona and Madrid into the summer of 2027, extending a schedule originally due to end on 29 March. The airline has added 260,000 seats, taking planned capacity on the route to nearly 350,000. It has increased service to three daily flights from Tuesday to Thursday and plans to build up to five daily flights on days and during periods of higher demand.
The additional capacity is being introduced progressively. Vueling has not specified the summer operating dates or when it expects to reach five daily flights. The route’s frequency increase this week added one flight each day from Tuesday to Thursday.
The airline restored the connection on 5 October, citing disruption to high-speed rail services between the cities. The extension is intended to meet demand for travel between Barcelona and Madrid, including from business travellers.
Vueling has also scheduled more than 7,200 additional seats on services from Barcelona to Seville, Málaga, Jerez and Madrid from 29 October. From January, it plans to add a daily Barcelona–Seville flight, taking that route to as many as eight daily services.
