VIA Rail launches co-development phase for Dorval multimodal hub near Montréal airport

VIA Rail has begun the co-development phase for a new Dorval multimodal hub that will bring together rail, local transit and airport shuttle links near Montréal-Trudeau International Airport. The project is planned for the current exo site in Dorval and is intended to improve transfers between VIA Rail, exo and the shuttle service serving YUL.

Construction Kiewit Cie has been selected as design and construction partner for the hub, which is being developed with exo, the regional transport authority ARTM and Aéroports de Montréal. The site sits in Montréal’s West Island, close to the existing Dorval Terminus operated by the STM, creating an opportunity to consolidate services that are now separated.

Detailed design and user-experience planning will follow during the co-development stage before construction begins. VIA Rail expects the integrated layout to reduce walking and transfer times and make connections across the network more predictable for passengers travelling to or from the airport.
