Russia’s United Engine Corporation has delivered the first two serial-production PD-8 engines for installation on Yakovlev SJ-100 aircraft, moving the import-substituted Superjet programme from development into initial series supply. The engines are destined for the updated SJ-100, the Russian-built version of the regional jet that is replacing foreign components with domestic systems.
UEC-Saturn head Ilya Konyukhov said serial production of the PD-8 had begun and the first two engines had already been handed over to the customer. The PD-8 received its type certificate in June, clearing the way for deliveries from the production line.
Reports on the same event indicate that one aircraft set of engines has been delivered, while another set is being sent to Komsomolsk-on-Amur for further testing and installation. The first serial SJ-100 has already been built with the new engines, and additional testing in Khabarovsk Territory is planned through the end of the year.
