Three killed in attacks on Saudi airports

Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority reported three deaths and 36 injuries after separate attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The incidents affected airport facilities and triggered emergency response procedures, with some flight operations around Riyadh disrupted for a period.

Two women, one Moroccan and one Algerian, were killed at Abha, where 28 people were injured. At King Khalid International Airport, a Sudanese resident died and eight others were hurt. The injured included Saudi, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Egyptian and Pakistani residents, with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The attacks took place on Tuesday and Wednesday and damaged property at both airports. Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility, while Saudi authorities publicly detailed the casualties and the impact on airport operations without providing further technical information on the weapons used. The incidents add to a wider pattern of airport and infrastructure strikes linked to the Saudi-Houthi conflict.
