Syrian Airlines has resumed direct passenger flights between Damascus and Moscow, restoring a scheduled link between the two capitals after a suspension of more than 18 months. The first service landed at Sheremetyevo on Sunday, with the return flight operating the same day. The route is set to run weekly on Sundays, with a journey time of about four hours 40 minutes and fares starting at about $490 in economy and $870 in business class.
The carrier suspended the service in December 2024 amid Syria’s political turmoil. Timings reported for the reinstated schedule show a Damascus departure around 02:20 local time, arrival in Moscow at about 07:00, a return departure at around 08:40 and arrival back in Damascus near 13:00. Multiple reports indicated that the inaugural flight was close to full, suggesting immediate demand for the service.
The restoration comes as Syrian Airlines begins rebuilding parts of its international network and re-establishing direct links that were cut during the suspension period. A regular Damascus-Moscow rotation also gives the carrier a renewed foothold on a route with both commercial and strategic value.
