Swissport is entering Indonesia through a joint venture with Jakarta-based UNEX Aviation Services, giving the airport services group its first foothold in one of Southeast Asia’s largest aviation markets. The partnership will build on UNEX’s existing cargo operation at Jakarta and expand into aircraft and passenger handling at additional Indonesian airports.
No stake size or purchase price was disclosed. UNEX has been active mainly in air freight at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, while the new venture broadens its role into wider ground handling services. For Swissport, the move extends its regional network and adds a new operating base in a market with strong growth potential for airport services.
The agreement also positions the two companies to compete more directly in Indonesia’s ground handling sector, where demand spans cargo, ramp and passenger operations. UNEX’s local presence provides Swissport with an established platform as it looks to scale beyond Jakarta and into other airports across the country.
