Swiss will increase capacity on the Geneva–London Heathrow route from the summer 2027 timetable by replacing two Airbus A220-300s with two larger Airbus A320neo aircraft. The change lifts seat count on the route from 145 to 180 per aircraft, adding 35 seats per flight on a key business market.
The aircraft swap uses two A320neo currently based in Zurich and two A220-300 now stationed in Geneva. Swiss normally places seven aircraft in Geneva in July and August, and five for the rest of the year, highlighting the limited scale of its base as it looks to address demand on the route.
The move favours larger gauge rather than extra frequency, a sign that Swiss is using aircraft size to ease capacity pressure at Geneva. The timing matches the summer 2027 schedule period, which runs from late March to late October, and comes as the carrier keeps the A220-300 in the fleet while redeploying them to Zurich.
