Swiss aviation start-up Moov is pursuing Cape Verde as the centre of a proposed central-Atlantic hub, with management meeting Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho and Transport Minister João do Carmo Brito in Praia to discuss a phased plan for TACV – Cabo Verde Airlines. The concept envisages an Atlantic Gateway linking Europe, Africa and Latin America, with Airbus A321XLR aircraft, cargo operations and a target of about two million passengers a year.
The talks focused first on stabilising TACV, which remains under financial pressure, while the government continues to assess restructuring, partnerships and fresh capital for the national carrier. Closure remains an option if no viable solution emerges.
Moov’s broader pitch reaches beyond Cape Verde’s flag carrier. The project has been framed as a repositioning effort after years without a launch, and recent activity includes an intention declaration for up to 30 eVTOL aircraft from Eve Air Mobility. For Cape Verde, the proposal could strengthen its role as a transatlantic connector if it advances beyond exploratory discussions.
