SWISS reports early improvement in Geneva operation

SWISS’s revised Geneva operation began to improve results in 2026, but the airline has yet to reach its desired performance at the base. Chief Financial Officer Dennis Weber discussed the changes during the carrier’s presentation of its first-nine-month results on 3 November. The airline has narrowed its offer to focus on routes with stronger demand and better profitability after continued losses in Geneva; it gave no figures for the improvement or the base’s results.

SWISS’s group operating result for the first nine months was CHF 421.4 million, broadly in line with the previous year, while operating income rose 5.3% to CHF 4.38 billion. Higher fuel costs weighed on earnings. The results release did not detail Geneva’s performance.

The airline is also changing its fleet at the base for summer 2027. It plans to replace two Airbus A220-300s, each configured for 145 passengers, with two A320neos offering 180 seats. The larger aircraft will operate on the Geneva–London Heathrow route, adding capacity on a service SWISS describes as having high demand. The fleet change is separate from the reported network adjustments; the airline has not provided a quantified forecast for Geneva’s results.
