Spike NLOS live-fire test validates infantry use from Lockheed Martin ISV-U

Lockheed Martin has completed a three-day live-fire demonstration of the Spike Non-Line-of-Sight missile launched by US Army infantry soldiers from an Infantry Squad Vehicle–Utility at Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah. The test combined the Rafael-developed missile family with the lightweight vehicle platform, demonstrating a mobile beyond-line-of-sight strike capability for infantry formations.

The demonstration was described as the first test of the capability involving Army infantry soldiers firing Spike NLOS from an ISV-U variant. It was intended to assess the integration of the missile system with the vehicle and its operation by infantry personnel, rather than evaluating the weapon or platform separately.

Spike NLOS is an electro-optical/infrared-guided missile with a reported range of up to 32 kilometres. Its integration with the ISV-U supports the Army requirement for a mobile, long-range precision-strike system that can accompany light forces while preserving the vehicle’s mobility and expeditionary role.

The test supports development of vehicle-mounted precision weapons for infantry formations and could inform future mobile-strike or long-range precision-fire configurations. Available details do not establish the missile variant, number of rounds fired, target type, engagement range or any formal acquisition decision.
