A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737-500 operating flight IS-4310 from Tehran Mehrabad to Mashhad veered off the runway after landing at Shahid Hashemi Nejad International Airport on Tuesday. The aircraft, registered EP-FSF, came to a stop after the excursion, and all passengers and crew were reported safe. One report placed the number of people on board at 127.
Airport authorities secured the scene and handled the aircraft on the ground while the runway and adjacent taxiway area were assessed. Iranian civil aviation authorities opened an investigation into the cause of the excursion. Weather conditions at the time were reported to be good, with clear visibility and light winds, which may form part of the inquiry.
