Saab unveiled a full-scale concept model of its A3-001 uncrewed combat aircraft at the Swedish Armed Forces Air Show at Malmen Air Base in Linköping on 22 August, presenting a future combat-air system designed to operate alongside manned fighters such as the Gripen E. The tailless concept is aimed at high-risk missions including electronic warfare, suppression of enemy air defences and precision strike.
The Swedish defence company positioned the design as part of the next stage in manned-unmanned teaming, with low observability and high autonomy central to the concept. Saab is also planning demonstrator aircraft ahead of any later development, while reports around the unveiling pointed to a broader programme involving the Swedish Armed Forces and the Defence Materiel Administration. The public debut adds Saab to the growing group of European aerospace companies pursuing collaborative combat aircraft for contested airspace.
