Romania has placed an order for seven Airbus H160s and five H145s, taking a mixed rotorcraft package into a single government procurement for internal affairs aviation. The deal expands Airbus Helicopters’ presence in the public-service segment with a fleet split that combines the higher-capacity H160 with the lighter H145.
For operators, the attraction is straightforward: one order, two platforms, and wider mission flexibility across policing, medical evacuation, border and civil-protection tasks. The H160 and H145 also deepen Airbus’s installed base in Europe, where state agencies continue to replace legacy airframes with newer twins built around lower support burden and multi-role interoperability.
The next focus will be delivery sequencing and mission fit-out, which will determine how quickly Romania can translate the order into operational hours.
