Pope Leo XIV’s 6–17 November journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru is scheduled to involve 12 fixed-wing flight legs and two helicopter journeys, linking Rome with Montevideo, Buenos Aires and several cities in Peru. The Vatican itinerary confirms the route and airport locations; reported aircraft and operator assignments include ITA Airways, Aerolíneas Argentinas, LATAM Airlines Perú and the Uruguayan and Peruvian air forces.
The reported plan assigns an ITA Airways Airbus A330neo to the Rome–Montevideo flight, with Uruguayan Air Force aircraft scheduled for the Montevideo–Paysandú return sectors. Aerolíneas Argentinas is listed for domestic services in Argentina and the Buenos Aires–Lima flight. LATAM Airlines Perú is reported to operate the Peru sectors, including the return journey from Lima to Rome on a Boeing 787-9.
The two helicopter legs are planned between Chiclayo and Santa Cruz de Succhabamba on 14 November. Aviation24.be reports that a Peruvian Air Force Mi-17, nicknamed “Papacóptero”, is assigned to the trips. The Vatican schedule identifies the helicopter journeys but does not specify the aircraft or nickname. Aircraft assignments remain subject to operational changes.
The Holy See confirmed on 26 October that the journey would proceed as planned, following medical recommendations. The schedule also includes an Argentine cargo-only flight, separate from the Pope’s listed passenger sectors.
