Pakistan International Airlines has contracted to modernise the cabins of five Boeing 777s, with options covering four additional aircraft. The programme, supported by German cabin specialist Aviationscouts, will replace Business Class seats with fully flat-bed models as PIA works to improve its long-haul product and rebuild international operations.
Economy Class seats will be refurbished rather than replaced. All cabins are due to receive 60-watt power connections, upgraded passenger-service systems, new carpets and other interior equipment. Aviationscouts is part of the Aerotec Group.
PIA’s Boeing 777s remain central to its long-haul fleet. Twelve aircraft are listed in the fleet, although only five were identified as active in contemporaneous fleet data, highlighting the importance of returning widebody capacity to service as the airline expands its international network.
The cabin contract is separate from PIA’s agreement with Norse Atlantic for two Boeing 787-9s under an ACMI arrangement. Those aircraft are scheduled to begin operating for PIA in November 2026, providing additional long-haul capacity while the airline rebuilds its fleet and network.
No timetable has been disclosed for the 777 retrofit programme, and details including aircraft registrations, seat model and project value remain unavailable.
