Pakistan International Airlines to resume Islamabad–Birmingham flights

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plans to restore nonstop flights between Islamabad and Birmingham from 1 December 2026, reopening a route suspended during the airline’s UK-wide operational restrictions. The service is scheduled to operate three times weekly with Boeing 777 aircraft, offering a direct link between Pakistan’s capital and one of the United Kingdom’s largest centres of Pakistani-origin demand.

Flights PK791 will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Islamabad at 12:15 and arriving in Birmingham at 16:00. The return PK792 service is scheduled to leave Birmingham at 18:30 and reach Islamabad at 07:15 the following day.

AeroRoutes lists an initial Boeing 777-200LR deployment, with the Boeing 777-200ER scheduled to take over from 10 December. Aircraft assignments remain subject to operational changes before launch.

The reinstated route will support visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic and provide a nonstop alternative to connecting itineraries. PIA previously suspended UK services following the 2020 pilot-licensing controversy and related safety concerns. Its UK network recovery followed Pakistan’s removal from the UK Air Safety List in 2025.

The Birmingham resumption is separate from PIA’s planned increase in London Heathrow services to seven weekly flights. The airline also continues to serve Manchester as it rebuilds its presence in the UK market.
