Oman Air and SalamAir have each named new chief executives in a same-day leadership change that will put both of Oman’s major carriers under new top management by the end of 2026. Oman Air will appoint Nasser Al Sharji as chief executive from 1 September, replacing Con Korfiatis, while SalamAir will bring in Eng. Yaqoob bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Kiyumi as chief executive from 1 October, succeeding Adrian Hamilton-Manns.
At Oman Air, Korfiatis is due to remain involved during the transition as an adviser, while Al Sharji moves into the role from senior aviation and ground-handling leadership positions in the sultanate. His appointment comes as the state-backed carrier continues its restructuring and expansion strategy.
SalamAir’s leadership change follows months of market signalling around the departure of Hamilton-Manns, making the move more anticipated than abrupt. The airline’s incoming chief executive has been identified as a key figure for its next phase of development as the low-cost carrier continues to refine its operating and commercial position in Oman’s aviation market.
