Nunavut Declines Minority Stake in Canadian North

The Government of Nunavut has formally declined its equity option to acquire a minority stake in Canadian North, confirming that Exchange Income Corporation retains full ownership of the airline’s northern operations. The territory determined that objectives for reliable, affordable, transparent, and sustainable air services for Nunavummiut can be met without equity investment, preserving the existing Commercial Airline Travel Services Agreement. This decision reinforces the partnership model between GN and EIC rather than transitioning to partial government ownership, maintaining the current operational structure for regional air service governance in Canada’s North. EIC expressed satisfaction with the outcome, citing a strong relationship and trust in delivering essential services through the valued partnership.
