Northeast Airlines and Travel has entered the FAA certification process for a planned cargo operation using Boeing 737-800 Freighters, with full Part 121 approval targeted for the third quarter of 2027. The Chicago-based company is building an initial narrowbody freighter fleet as it begins the formal steps needed to launch U.S. air cargo flying.
The carrier is compiling operating manuals, safety procedures and training programmes while working with FAA certification staff. Jayson Carver, named chief operating officer in July, is involved in steering the effort. The business is presenting itself as a revival of the historic Northeast Airlines and “Yellowbird” name, but in cargo rather than passenger service.
The project remains at an early stage and no operating certificate, aircraft deliveries or launch date have been confirmed. Northeast Airlines and Travel currently describes itself as a flight intermediary, and later updates are expected on route plans, facilities and hiring as the certification process advances.
