Lufthansa and Condor do not currently expect flight cancellations from the strained kerosene supply situation at Frankfurt Airport. Lufthansa has instructed crews on selected flights to Frankfurt to take on additional fuel before departure, while Condor reports that its hub operations remain unaffected. Both airlines say flights are operating as scheduled, with no passenger restrictions in place.
Lufthansa’s tankering measure is designed to reduce the volume of fuel required at Frankfurt and is being used primarily on short- and medium-haul services, with some long-haul flights also affected. The airline describes the step as precautionary and says it is already easing pressure on supplies. The measure can be withdrawn once conditions improve.
The supply situation has tightened because pipeline capacity is reduced while one pipeline undergoes routine maintenance. Low water levels on the Rhine may also limit tanker deliveries to the airport through the river network. Fraport has confirmed the maintenance but says Frankfurt’s operational capability is not impaired. Airport storage is sufficient for roughly ten days of demand, according to the operator.
The duration of the constraints remains unclear. Lufthansa is continuing to monitor supply conditions and adjust fuel uplift procedures as necessary, while Condor remains in contact with its operating partners.
