Birdie Jet, the Malaysian charter and business-aviation operator based at Subang Airport in Kuala Lumpur, has received its air operator certificate from Guernsey’s 2-REG registry for a Learjet 55 registered as 2-BRDJ. The approval, granted after checks and a proving flight in Kuala Lumpur, enables the company to operate as Birdie 2 Jet under its own certificate rather than through another AOC holder.
The airline has chosen Guernsey’s registry for a structure it regards as internationally recognised and suitable for its regional network as well as longer-term expansion. The registry described the approval as its eighth air operator certificate, reflecting the territory’s limited but growing role in business-aviation certification. Birdie 2 Jet is still working through foreign-operator approvals in Malaysia and Singapore as it builds out its cross-border operating permissions in Southeast Asia.
