Lufthansa to add Nagoya and Narita capacity in summer 2027 Japan push

Lufthansa Group will expand its Japan network for the summer 2027 schedule, restoring Frankfurt–Nagoya service and adding a daily seasonal Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita flight from late March. The move lifts the group’s planned Japan capacity to up to 50 weekly flights across four destinations, with the new services complementing existing daily Frankfurt and Munich operations to Tokyo Haneda.

Lufthansa will resume Frankfurt–Nagoya on 29 March 2027 with three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Narita service begins a day earlier, on 28 March 2027, and operates daily on a seasonal basis. The group’s airlines — Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways — will together serve Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Osaka and Nagoya.

The expansion follows strong passenger demand for Japan, which the group cites as the reason for the additional summer capacity. The new routes are already open for booking. Available reporting does not provide a detailed load factor or demand breakdown, but it confirms the same network changes, route timings and frequencies, alongside the broader increase in weekly Japan capacity.
