Lufthansa and pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit have agreed to enter a formal mediation and conciliation process aimed at easing the carrier’s ongoing labour dispute. The move covers Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa CityLine and Eurowings, and comes after a series of costly strikes that disrupted operations earlier in 2026.
The agreement is intended to keep further industrial action off the table while the two sides address unresolved contract issues, including pension-related demands. Lufthansa has not disclosed the detailed terms of the procedure, leaving the process confidential as the parties move into negotiations under a structured framework.
For the airline group, the deal offers a temporary stabilisation of flying schedules across its German network and freight operations. The inclusion of cargo and regional units broadens the scope beyond the core passenger airline, suggesting that the labour talks will reach across several parts of the group rather than focus on a single business unit.
