Lufthansa Group airlines still plan to restart service to Amman on schedule, even after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency tightened its warning on Jordanian airspace. Austrian Airlines is preparing to resume Vienna–Amman flights on 2 October, while Lufthansa is set to bring back its Amman service on 25 October, with both carriers reviewing the situation closely.
The updated safety guidance advises operators to avoid Jordanian airspace at all altitudes, a stricter position than the agency’s earlier cautionary advice. That shift has put the planned route returns under renewed operational scrutiny, particularly because the change came just before Austrian’s intended restart date.
Lufthansa Group is monitoring developments in the Middle East and remains in contact with the authorities as it assesses whether any schedule adjustments are needed. For now, no final operational change has been confirmed, and the planned resumptions remain unchanged pending further review.
The warning is relevant beyond Amman because it touches broader Middle East network planning for the group at a time when airspace guidance can change quickly. Any further tightening of the safety position could affect how fast airlines restore services to Jordan and how they sequence other regional route decisions.
