Lockheed Martin used Farnborough to introduce MORFIUS X-Rotor, a reusable high-power microwave counter-UAS designed to defeat drone swarms and return for another sortie. The field-recoverable X-rotor package targets one-to-many engagements, aiming to cut the cost penalty of missile-based air defence while preserving magazine depth. The company says the system can disable more than 50 drones in a single mission, then be recovered and reused. That pitch places MORFIUS squarely in the sector’s shift toward scalable, sensor-agnostic counter-swarm tools that can plug into existing command-and-control architectures without the per-shot economics of interceptors.
