Innsbruck Airport puts flight tracks and noise data online

Innsbruck Airport has launched WebTrak, a free online platform that lets the public view flight movements and related noise data around the Austrian airport. The interactive map shows aircraft tracks with about a one-hour delay and gives per-flight details including flight number, aircraft type, registration, altitude and direction.

The portal links those tracks with readings from three permanent noise monitoring stations in Tyrol at Fürstenweg, Allerheiligen and Völs. Radar data from Austrian air traffic control help separate aircraft noise from other environmental sounds.

The airport is using the system to support a more transparent, data-based discussion about air traffic and aircraft noise. The service is also intended as an expanded source of public information for residents and other interested users.
