Infrabel will reduce train services to Brussels Airport-Zaventem from 3 to 18 October while it renovates part of the rail tunnel serving the station. The work will limit access to the airport platforms and force timetable changes, with several direct connections suspended and others running less often during the maintenance window.
The renovation covers the oldest section of the Diabolo/Nossegem tunnel and includes new fire protection, lighting, cable trays and moisture treatment on tunnel walls, together with about 3.5 km of overhead catenary renewal. During the works, trains will be able to reach the station only from the north side, reducing capacity. Direct links from Liège, Namur, Dinant, Hasselt and Leuven will be suspended, with passengers directed to change at Brussels-North, while travellers from Knokke will need to change at Brussels-Midi.
Direct services from Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent will continue, but at reduced frequency, and some journeys will take longer. More trains will stop at Zaventem station, where De Lijn bus routes R26 and 82 connect to the airport in about six minutes with a valid SNCB ticket. Further timetable changes are scheduled for the weekends of 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18 October.
