ARTEMISA, a new European SESAR project led by Indra with eight air navigation service providers in the iTEC collaboration, is set to develop next-generation ATS and ATM platforms for en-route and terminal-area traffic management. The three-year initiative, discussed in Brussels this week, carries a budget of about €39.28 million and will receive 70% co-financing from the SESAR programme.
The project is tied to the Digital European Sky and to the European ATM Master Plan, with a technical focus on evolving iTEC SkyNex, building open and modular service architectures, and strengthening cybersecurity for data exchange between platforms. Its automation target is EASA Level 4, under which systems can autonomously take and execute routine decisions within defined operating conditions.
The consortium brings together Indra and the iTEC partner ANSPs to push closer interoperability across European air traffic management systems. The work is designed to support a more flexible service-delivery model while improving resilience and security across a virtual-centre architecture.
