IndiGo has appointed Gaurav Hazrati as business head for BluChip, the airline’s loyalty programme, as well as its travel marketplaces and financial services businesses. The move puts a senior consumer-platform role at the centre of IndiGo’s effort to expand beyond core flying operations and deepen customer engagement through rewards-linked and fintech-related offerings.
Hazrati brings more than 18 years of experience in loyalty and financial services. He previously served as chief executive and director of Tata Payments and as president of financial services at Tata Digital, giving him a background in payments, digital products and customer-focused ecosystem building.
His remit covers growth across IndiGo BluChip, expansion of the rewards ecosystem and scaling of the airline’s marketplace and financial-services activities. The appointment underlines IndiGo’s strategy of monetising its large passenger base through adjacent businesses that can generate recurring engagement between flights.
The hire also reflects a broader industry trend among airlines to develop loyalty and ancillary revenue streams into more substantial commercial businesses. For IndiGo, BluChip has become a key customer relationship platform, while travel services and financial products offer additional scope to convert brand loyalty into revenue beyond ticket sales.
