Indian Air Force names five killed in An-32 crash at Jorhat

The Indian Air Force has named the five personnel killed when an An-32 transport aircraft crashed at Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam during a routine sortie on 13 June. The dead were Sqn Ldr Prashant Singh, Flt Lt Shubham Kumar, Sgt Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.

The aircraft was landing when it went down, leaving one co-pilot alive and under medical treatment. The service has ordered a court of inquiry and begun crash-site management, but has not released a cause. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered condolences as the focus shifts to the first technical findings.
