Iberia has extended the temporary suspension of its direct Madrid–Havana service until 30 June 2027, pushing back any resumption of the Cuba route for another year. The airline is also keeping ticket-change and refund options open for passengers affected by the prolonged halt.
The update removes Iberia’s direct Havana link from sale through the first half of 2027, leaving travellers to rely on alternatives such as rebooking, vouchers or refunds. For eligible tickets issued by 18 August 2026, the flexibility policy covers travel dates from 1 June 2026 to 30 June 2027 and allows changes to selected alternative destinations, including nearby hubs within 2,300 kilometres.
Iberia is maintaining the suspension because conditions in Cuba continue to weigh on demand and operating conditions. Sales may reopen from July 2027 if circumstances allow, but the airline has not provided a firmer timetable for restarting the route. The current arrangement also preserves indirect options, including connections via Panama under its arrangement with Copa Airlines.
