International Airlines Group has selected OpenAirlines’ SkyBreathe fuel-efficiency platform for use across Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, LEVEL and Vueling, covering more than 600 aircraft. The system is designed to centralise fuel-efficiency management across the group by analysing operational data to identify fuel-saving opportunities and support lower operating costs and emissions.
SkyBreathe is already in use at Aer Lingus, Iberia, LEVEL and Vueling, while British Airways is expected to complete its rollout in the coming months. The platform processes inputs including flight plans, weather conditions and aircraft performance to help airlines improve fuel use without affecting safety.
The move gives IAG a common data and reporting framework across its airlines, allowing performance to be measured more consistently and successful practices to be shared within the group. It also reflects continued investment by airlines in digital tools aimed at reducing fuel burn, one of the largest operating expenses in commercial aviation. OpenAirlines positions SkyBreathe as an AI-driven platform, and the deployment highlights the growing role of software in day-to-day efficiency management for large multi-airline groups.
