Huthi attacks damage Jizan and Najran airports in southern Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority confirmed attacks on King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jizan and Najran International Airport, close to the Yemeni border, leaving three people with minor injuries and causing material damage at both facilities. The incidents took place on Monday and were made public on Tuesday, while authorities began assessing the damage and reinforcing measures to protect passengers, staff and civil aviation operations.

The two airports sit in a sensitive border area where aviation activity has been disrupted repeatedly by the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Huthi movement. The confirmed strikes directly affect civil aviation safety in the kingdom’s south, where airports also support wider commercial and passenger traffic linked to the border region.

The Huthi movement separately claimed additional attacks on Saudi targets, including Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, Abha Airport, an Aramco refinery in Rabigh and military sites. Those broader claims were not independently verified in the readable sources reviewed, and Saudi aviation authorities only formally acknowledged the Jizan and Najran incidents. The extent of the damage at the two southern airports remains under assessment.
