A civilian Heli Holland helicopter made a precautionary landing near Den Helder on Thursday afternoon after a technical problem, prompting a major emergency response before authorities confirmed that everyone on board was safe. The aircraft came down in the area south of Den Helder, near Julianadorp and Callantsoog, close to the maritime air base at De Kooy, and the helicopter was later reported to be undamaged.
Initial reports suggested a crash, which brought fire crews, ambulances and a trauma helicopter to the scene. The alarm was quickly downgraded once it became clear the pilot had landed the aircraft safely. Dutch authorities confirmed that no one was injured and that the incident involved a civilian helicopter rather than a military aircraft.
The area was cordoned off for investigation and recovery work, with the aviation police expected to examine the cause of the technical fault. The exact defect has not been disclosed. Heli Holland identified the aircraft as one of its own and said the helicopter remained intact after the landing.
