Heli Holland helicopter makes precautionary landing near Den Helder after false crash alarm

A Heli Holland civilian helicopter made a precautionary landing near Den Helder in the Netherlands on Thursday after initial reports suggested a crash. No one was injured and the aircraft was not damaged, while the incident triggered a major emergency response near Julianadorp and Callantsoog, close to the De Kooy marine air base.

Early witnesses reported black smoke, prompting fire crews, ambulances and a trauma helicopter to rush to the scene. Authorities later confirmed that the aircraft had landed safely and that the initial crash fears were unfounded. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and regional safety services secured the area for investigation and recovery work, while the Dutch aviation investigation service was expected to examine the technical problem.

Heli Holland identified the event as an emergency landing after the crew detected an issue on the engine. The first public alerts came in shortly before 16:00 local time, and the site was briefly cordoned off as responders checked the aircraft and surrounding area. Reporting placed the helicopter near Rijksweg in the Den Helder area, with later accounts narrowing the location to land south of Julianadorp.
