French Bee is using Wamos Air aircraft and crews to cover transatlantic services from Paris-Orly during a cabin-crew strike that began on Thursday and is due to run until 31 August. The low-cost long-haul carrier is trying to keep its full programme operating, but at least one Paris–Los Angeles flight has already been cancelled.
The industrial action involves cabin crew represented by SNPNC-FO and CGT, who are protesting pay, working conditions, unstable rosters and insufficient rest periods. French Bee’s reliance on wet-leased capacity offers a short-term way to preserve services on a small widebody network, but it also adds heavy cost pressure. Union representatives have put the weekly bill for the leased aircraft and crews at several million euros.
