Finnair passenger numbers rise 9.6% in September

Finnair carried 1,112,200 passengers in September 2026, up 9.6% from a year earlier, as traffic growth held across its Asian, European and North Atlantic networks. Domestic travel was the only segment to decline, while the month’s total remained slightly below August’s level of about 1.13 million passengers.

The monthly update points to continued resilience in Finnair’s long-haul and intra-European demand despite earlier disruption to its Middle East flying programme. Passenger growth came even as capacity and other operating metrics were not fully detailed in the accessible coverage, leaving the update focused on traffic volumes rather than broader efficiency or cargo performance.

The September result follows a steadier summer trend for the Helsinki-based carrier, which reported year-on-year passenger growth in both July and August before a modest month-on-month dip in September.
