A Eurowings Boeing 737 operating flight EW590 from Cologne-Bonn to Palma de Mallorca diverted to Paris Charles de Gaulle on Saturday evening after steam developed in the rear galley. The aircraft landed safely as a precaution, with 131 passengers on board, and the flight was later removed from service for a technical inspection.
The diversion followed the crew’s decision to treat the incident as a potential safety issue and select Paris as the nearest suitable alternate. Eurowings arranged hotel accommodation, transfers and rebooking for the passengers, while the aircraft remained under technical review. The airline identified the service as being operated by a contracted third party. Reports from Germany and other outlets were consistent that no one was injured and that safety was never compromised.
