Elbe Flugzeugwerke has signed a contract in Dresden to maintain NH90 transport helicopters for the German Bundeswehr, taking on the work as a direct contractor for the armed forces. The seven-year deal covers inspections and repairs, and Saxony’s Minister President Michael Kretschmer attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement gives EFW a new direct role in supporting NH90 availability for German military transport operations. The company had previously handled the helicopters only as a subcontractor, making this its first direct partnership with the Bundeswehr for the programme.
Operational work had already begun before the formal signing, with the first helicopters arriving in Dresden at the start of September. The maintenance scope includes regular inspections and repair work for the NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter fleet, though no contract value or fleet size was disclosed.
