EasyJet pilots and cabin crew in Italy are due to stage a 24-hour nationwide strike on Friday, 16 October, threatening delays, cancellations and rebooking across the airline’s Italian network. The walkout, called by USB Lavoro Privato, will run from midnight to 23:59 and could also affect international services using Italian airports. Flights scheduled during the protected periods should operate under national strike rules.
The protected operating windows are 07:00–10:00 and 18:00–21:00 local time. ENAC, Italy’s civil aviation authority, is responsible for the applicable guaranteed-flight arrangements, although individual schedules may still change as EasyJet finalises its operations.
The dispute concerns working conditions and pay, including opposition to a company agreement signed on 15 September. USB has argued that the agreement weakens crew entitlement to a 13th-month salary and provides limited effective increases.
Passengers travelling through Italy, including those on services involving Basel, Geneva or Zurich, have been advised to check EasyJet’s flight status before departure. No final cancellation total or participation estimate was available before the strike, so the operational impact will depend on employee turnout and the airline’s response.
Separate industrial action involving airport-service companies at Pisa and Florence was also reported, although that stoppage was listed in some coverage as postponed until 30 October.
