DGCA Approves Air India Electronic Technical Logbooks for Entire Boeing 787 Fleet

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation approved Air India to replace paper-based technical logbooks with Electronic Technical Logbooks as the primary technical record for its entire Boeing 787 fleet on 13 July 2026. The regulator also authorized parallel implementation across the Boeing 777 fleet, making Air India one of the first operators to deploy ETL across a complete wide-body type. Real-time digital reporting accelerates defect resolution, speeds maintenance coordination, and improves dispatch reliability by linking engineering, flight operations, and digital teams. This approval establishes ETL as the primary technical record in Indian aviation, setting a precedent for other carriers to adopt digital maintenance tracking systems.
